URGENT HELP NEEDED ! !

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

If you haven’t received our previous emails for help, we need to relocate 30 cats in 72 hours!

We are having some great successes and some disappointments. Successes: 3 sibling kittens adopted into one loving home; our FIV cat has been transferred to another group where he has a better chance of being placed, we have foster homes for 12 cats, and 4 cats will be boarded for 5 days at a vet at no charge. Disappointments: we still need foster homes for 14 cats.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: Do you know someone who could offer a temporary home (up to 4 weeks) in Stafford or Spotsylvania County? The kitties do not need access to your entire home, in fact, we would prefer they stay in one room. Foster homes will be provided with food, litter, toys, and any supplies needed for kitty care. While the cats are in your care, they are still covered under our veterinary care. You provide the love and attention.

As a short term solution, we are putting wire and wooden enclosures with up to 3 cats in garages or basements. The cost of these enclosures has not been anticipated in our budget as most of our monies go to veterinary care. If you are able to donate any amount to our organization, it would be greatly appreciated. Shadow Cat Advocates, P.O. Box 514, Garrisonville, VA 22463.

We are looking for churches that have classroom or office space that can be used for fostering. Our thought is that after services, the congregation can come down for punch, cookies, and to meet the kitties for possible adoptions.

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated,
Karen Hughes

Spay Day 2009

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Don’t forget Spay Day is February 24, 2009. Four million cats and dogs—about one every eight seconds—are put down in U.S. shelters each year. Often these animals are the offspring of cherished family pets, even purebreds. Maybe someone’s cat or dog got out just that one time or maybe the litter was intentional, but efforts to find enough good homes failed. Spay/neuter is the only permanent, 100-percent effective method of birth control for dogs and cats and a proven way to reduce the vast numbers of animals who are born only to die prematurely and without a family who loves them.

Need your help

Monday, January 21st, 2008

We are collecting funds to be used as reward money in an attempt to get information on who killed Mikki’s cats. The reward is currently $800 and we would like to get it over $1,000 so we can catch this person or persons. In addition, we are building her an outdoor enclosure that will allow her cats to go out and still be secure. Please send any donations to: Shadow Cat Advocates, PO Box 514, Garrisonville, VA 22463. Please specify whether the donation is for the reward or the enclosure.
